Searching for a New Server 1: Windia

I went to check out Windia, I thought their archer ranks were pretty awesome and what not.

But if I moved there because I would be an immigrant somehow that leaves me in the Limbo of being "not legit" or "not a true windian". Yeah now I think it's getting to the point that I actually rather quit maple story because of the outrageous behavior people exhibit over the small.

The worst thing that could happen on MS besides my account getting hacked is being out casted by my own class. That's really pathetic.

I think I have too much pride as an archer to just get thrown out. I might move there anyway but I haven't checked out what others had to say on other servers.

As a Windian myself, I can honestly say that you'll meet many great people (perhaps future leaders of business and politics), and many not so great people in Windia. Don't expect that you'll be moving to a paradise, as most servers share common traits in their communities. If you're running from drama, you should expect much of the same unless you somehow find yourself a friend of some of the higher leveled people, many of whom value honesty over social obligation and pretentious friendliness. The honesty that pervades some of these groups often leads to misinterpreted drama on the forums, and among other Windians inside the game, but almost never among members of such groups. In other words, many Windians very much value honesty as a medium for group cohesion, making them an extremely tight-knit group.

I must warn you also that Windia seems to be the most difficult community to attempt to migrate to and still be in favor of the 1st gen people (as that is a very difficult group to get to know in the first place). As such, I recommend you create a thread on Sleepywood about your move, specifying exactly why you're moving. Even if you decide to move to a different server, I still believe that Windia sets the standard in a difficult move. Therefore, if you wish to be welcomed, it would be wise to know what would get you in good favor of the Windians.

Here are my recommendations:

1) Don't word anything as if you're running from something. The first question people will be asking is "why is this person moving?" If you make it seem as if you're running from (as opposed to running to), you're going to be ostracized almost immediately.

2) Don't leave anything out of the post. The shorter you make the post, the more likely people will think it's foul play. Everything you know about your situation should theoretically go in that post. Also note that people will tend to break apart pieces of what you say and find some deeper truth in them. I suggest you straighten out your past, and find logical rationalizations for your previous actions before you are caught on the spot. I would hope to believe that most of the people that are to receive you value honesty over just about anything else.

3) Explain to people why you chose that server in particular. If you chose it at random without doing any (or very little) research, you will likely be rejected. Also remember that your thread is part of your research. The manner in which people act toward you in the thread may hint toward how they might treat you in game. However, of these people, the first generation tend to be more honest about the immigration situation because they are the ones being affected. Direct your attention toward their needs. Are you going to take their training spots and destroy their economy? Many of the lower leveled players have no want or need to care about these things. Focus on the people that you might become friends with. On that same note, attempt not to befriend the hacking groups, or the groups that support or knowingly harbor hackers. I cannot tell you who these groups are, and I will not tell you. Just know that each server has their own set that post on the forums.

4) Explain to the server why you think you belong there. Not to say this is an interview, but not to say it isn't. If you have something to bring to Windia, then it's all for the better. If you're bringing a history of hacking, and a large association of hackers with you...well, I think you already know what will happen.

5) Avoid confrontations with Patsmells.

Anyway, you can make that post if you want to or not (you can even quote this response as a necessary vouch). At the very least, mention that I told you this information, because you can use it as some evidence of research.

Nevertheless, do not choose Windia simply because I told you this. Research the other servers as well. I suggest you put much consideration into the server before you actually go through with any moving.

Analyzing what you said:

"But if I moved there because I would be an immigrant somehow that leaves me in the Limbo of being "not legit" or "not a true windian"."

An immigrant with a valid relationship with their community is something I very much wish to see in my lifetime. I consider a member of a server as a person that plays on that server, not as someone that started out on that server. Even though I restarted my character on Windia, I came from Scania, and Beta Tespia before that. Very few people are non-immigrants in this light.

"The worst thing that could happen on MS besides my account getting hacked is being out casted by my own class. That's really pathetic.

Having excessive pride in your class can be used to your advantage, because it shows that you care about something. Archers tend to be prided about their status (I know about this, having a level 100 ranger as well), and this is often a good thing. Nevertheless, you will need to explain to people how you got hacked. The only way I can see an archer shaming their community is by hacking on their own characters. A legitimately raised archer is not a detriment to any server's archer ranks.
